The 54th Deadline: Ongoing Patience

————————————————————————————————————–
The 54th Deadline: Life is a series of chances to achieve something by a given point. You might very well miss out on opportunities if you are not careful. However, I firmly believe that God gives us plenty of means to find our way, even if we mess up here and there. After all, life demands deadlines. Try and try again until your goals and dreams are realized. Strive to finish on a successful note with whatever you set out to do. Always.

If there is one thing about me I have gotten pretty good at over the years, it’s having ongoing patience.

The patience to wait, wait and just wait until who knows when has become an everyday thing for me. But I have grown weary of waiting for the “storm” to pass. Everything seemingly is improving, and yet I am stuck biding my time and watching the clock go ticktock.

It’s maddening. It can drive one insane.

And you know what? I think all of this patience has accumulated a lot of interest over the years, so I think it’s justified to expect some kind of big payout by now.

To be this patient like myself has to be some kind of worthwhile virtue.

If you’re waiting for the outside world to give you something (or someone) specific, you do have to be patient.

Example: I want the world to give me a non-carnivorous woman to whom I can stay married for my whole life. I might need to wait for a while.

If you’re waiting for the outside world to deliver any one of a large category of things, you need less patience.

Example: I want the world to give me a woman who is unmarried and willing to go out to a movie with me. I don’t need to wait as long – those women are wandering around, trying to find guys who will take them out to movies. A lot of them will seek out dalliances carnivorously, even if they already have boyfriends. I probably would not want to marry a girl who dates other men while she already has a boyfriend. But if my objective is just to take a girl out to the movies, I don’t care about whether she already has a boyfriend or not.
