Happy Haiku: Lanaya

Happy Haiku: I try to dabble in writing haiku poems in Japanese.

Like I wrote the other day, I have been playing a lot of Dota 2 as of late and having a blast. It’s been a really good experience, overall anyway, with trying to get back into the game.

As I was transitioning over into Dota 2 from League of Legends, I found myself really taking a quick liking to Lanaya, the Templar Assassin, and her style of play. She plays a lot like a ninja, and who doesn’t like a cool ninja girl?

I would go as far as to call Lanaya my favorite hero in Dota 2 at this point. Heck, I have been plastering Lanaya pictures all over my various blogs and stuff.

By all means, Lanaya is an extremely difficult hero for Dota 2 due to her challenging mechanics. She is not a hero you can just pick randomly and steamroll the enemy teaming without a lot of conscious effort on your part.

Dota 2 has plenty of right-click-and-win heroes, but Lanaya is far from being one because she actually requires genuine skill. A bad Lanaya sticks out like a sore thumb, but a competent Lanaya can prove just as powerful as any “OP” hero in the game.

If your base mechanics like proper positioning or knowing when to time your abilities for maximum effect are not up to snuff, Lanaya may seem lackluster at face value. However, playing Layana has made me feel like I am improving drastically at Dota 2 if I continue learning her subtle nuances.

Practices make perfect, after all.

So I give you … this random haiku in honor of my favorite hero in Dota 2: Lanaya, the Templar Assassin!

O Lanaiya-sama
