Everyday NhanSense: Each day, I will blog about something that comes to mind. My goal is to practice writing about my hobbies, my interests, my opinions and so forth.
Day 93’s Topic: Perspective.
It’s been a chill Sunday. I was hoping to explore the town for my day off, but Mother Nature had different plans.
But it’s cool. It goes to show that I still need things like a car to travel practically in this weather, yet I am fine with lazy days just taking it easy while indoors.
Heck, from a perspective standpoint, things are just fine and dandy.
I have my health.
I have a job.
I have food to eat.
This, collectively, is a lot better than what it was a few months ago.
For instance, food is something we all take for granted. Meals are things you need to eat to keep fueling your body, but what happens when you have limited money for said food?
To give you an idea what I mean, this is what I bought for lunch today because I could.
This isn’t particularly appetizing by any means. It doesn’t look that good. It doesn’t taste anything special. It’s glorified cafeteria food for $6.
But you know what?
A meal like this was something I had to eat for THE WHOLE DAY at my worst in this town. Not just here and there. No. This was what I had to live on for an entire given day. I couldn’t afford to splurge on even a modest restaurant or anything like that. So instead, I found myself often asking my landlord for a ride so I could go to the grocery store just to buy something like this for my meal.
I ate this kind of food so much that I grew sick of it. It all started to taste the same to me after a while. I grew accustomed to the mediocre product, but it was sustenance. It was life or death.
Not really. OK, it wasn’t like so darn difficult that I had to go prowl the neighborhood to rummage through garbage. But gosh, when you need to save some money, $6 went a long way.
So going back to the perspective thing, life is more or less good from my point of view. Not perfect, but things are going toward an ideal direction.
As long as I keep my eye on the prize and do not veer off course, things will be fine. You just have to view life with the right perspective for it to make sense.
