Day 85’s Topic: Card games.
I make it a point to tell people that I LOVE card games.
They are one of my favorite types of games out there. For a nerdy guy with social anxiety, card games at least force me to open up. In fact, I find myself being able to hold all kinds of conversations with great competence when a card game is in action.
Below is my deck I use in Magic: The Gathering, which is the activity I try to participate in during Friday evenings. I’m a wild one, don’t you think? Ha, just kidding. I couldn’t care less what others think of my Friday hobby. It’s what I enjoy doing.
I love this deck. It’s a home-brew version built over time that oozes my personality. I call it “Here Comes the Bloom” for my favorite cards in the deck: Eidolon of Blossoms.
Anyway, this deck has won me some tournaments at my local card shop. It’s an inconsistent deck in nature, relying on drawing more cards than my opponent to develop significant card advantage, eventually setting up a board where I overwhelm my way toward victory.
My deck gets hit hard by variance due to being a combo deck in design. I can have nights where my deck can stomp the competition, and then I get those nights where the deck putters and underperforms.
Last Friday, though, I won the whole shebang and a whole lot of store credit as the prize. Continue reading
